Our Cause

When Cheri (Cherbear) was battling cancer, she never once complained about her continued chemotherapy treatments and many, many doctor appointments. The one thing that did upset her was seeing children battling with cancer and families dealing with the enormity of a very sick child. Cheri always had a heart for children and wanted to help any child in anyway that she could. Children adored her!! When Cheri passed away on October 17, 2006, our family decided to honor her memory by helping children in need. Each year we host a golf tournament, the Cher Bear Open, to financially support the family of one child battling a life-threatening disease.
This year the Cher Bear Open golf tournament will be held at the Valleaire Golf Course on Saturday June 23, 2018. See how you can get involved. We appreciate and sincerely thank you for your continued support.

Why Pennies?

2018 Kendall

Kendall is diagnosed with stage IV high risk neuroblastoma which affects the sympathetic nervous system. To date, Kendall has undergone 6 rounds of chemo, traveled to NYC Sloan Kettering for tumor resection surgery and is completing her second stem cell transplant. Next up is radiation followed by 6 months of immunotherapy. Kendall laughs and dances her way through treatment. She inspires so many to choose joy in the midst of hardship. This has become our motto “Choose Joy”. We are excited for the day she is declared cancer free.
